Tea ceremony

The two years that I spent in China have changed me in so many different ways. My attitude towards life has totally changed. I have learned to slow down and enjoy simple pleasures from my everyday life. These moments are so important to me, and I try to treasure them my best.

This new philosophy came to me when I was first initiated to tea "ceremony". Before China, I was such a stranger to this art de vivre. I had no idea that tea could be so versatile, and its flavors could be so different from one another, I didn't know that each sip was different from the previous one and most of all, I didn't know that tea was carrying such a fascinating history.

Two years have past, and I'm still addicted to this beverage. Even though it's pretty hard to find really good tea, that could  quench my thirst of flavors, I have still managed to get my hands on a few good ones!

For natural tea I would brew some Oolong from Dammann Frères. For something more fancy/festive I'll take a cup of Thé des moines from Le palais des thés. Before going to bed I love to drink Bedtime from Yogi Tea. And when I'm on the rush I just infuse a tea bag from Clipper.

What's your attitude towards tea? What tea do you like to drink the most? More tea or coffee?

A month in review |December| & Happy New Year

January 01, 2014

Oh December, I'm going to miss you!

+Knitting/ I worked on my Praline cardigan and realized that I was short of a few skeins to finish it. Started my hat for December & some socks but couldn't finish them either. I came back to France for the holidays, and dare not bring my knitting needles with me on the plane.

+Crafts/ Took part into several knitting clubs hosted by the dear Kristin. Cannot wait to see her again, and spend some time in her amazing house/studio. Embroidered some pine trees on a simple dress for Christmas. I also made some pine wreath both for me and home.

+Shop/Packed a few orders on the Etsy shop. I've been so grateful lately. Send scarves, snoods, hats and stones to several countries.

+Selfie/ I decided to CUT my hair. Never had them as short in ten years

I'm wishing you all the best for this coming year! I didnt set any goal this year. But I will try my best to accomplish as many thing as possible instead! So you have any plan/wish for this upcoming year?

Little greenhouse

Everytime that I come back to France, I love to see all of these beautiful flowers in my old house. My mom has always loved to surroung herself with a profusion of flowers and plants.  Since she owns more orchids and plants than saucepans and dishes, I like to call her kitchen "the greenhouse".  There's no doubt that my own kitchen in Latvia, is going to look like hers very soon.

Do you like to surround yourself with flowers and plants at home too? What's your favourite plant?

Ps {Thank you for you sweet comments in my previous articles. I hope that you're spending very nice holidays.} {There's a lovely lady that lives on a beautiful island in the Pacific Northwest, both her words and pictures are magical}.

A little pine dress

As you can see, our Winter Wonderland is gone. The snow has completely melted away, and I'm quite not sure we're going to see snowflakes anytime soon. Christmas is really not the same without these beautiful little flurries.

However, I didn't want the holiday spirit to vanish completely. Last year, I came across this (so) inspiring tutorial on Frolic, and decided that it was the time to give it a try! I took this simple cotton dress and started embroider pine trees all over it. My stitches are far from being perfect but I really like how it turned out! On the top of the dress, I decided to add some extra french knots stitches, and hop, it's snowing on pine trees!

In less than a few hours, I'll take a bus and head off to Lithuania to celebrate Christmas Eve. Hopefully my snowy pine tree dress will bring some flurries there!

In the meantime I wish you a happy and merry Christmas!

I think there's no word stong enough to describe my love for snow. So, rather than a long text, I let you have a look to my day in winter wonderland.
